Log into JIRA with embedded web browser

JIRA Client now can connect to JIRA servers protected by Single Sign On systems.
It also supports login with Google account.

If JIRA Client cannot connect to a JIRA server via standard login dialog, try connecting via web browser.

SVG support

JIRA Client supports SVG images.

Now it is able to show type, status and priority icons of modern JIRA.

Also JIRA Client shows SVG attachments with internal viewer and shows preview on the issue details panel.

Improved Create Issue and Edit Issue forms

Create and Edit forms look almost exactly the same as these screens are configured in your JIRA: fields appear in the same order and grouped into same tabs (this functionality requires JIRA Client Plugin to be installed on the JIRA server).

You may edit several issues with Edit Issue form.

Hide any unused or rarely used fields from create/edit forms and quickly show all or some of them if you need them in some specific case.

Mandatory issue fields are clearly marked.

Spell Checker

JIRA Client now comes with the built-in spell checker. It supports English, German, French, Spanish and Russian languages and a user dictionary.

Customizable "Copy to Clipboard"

Set up action.customcopy.pattern system property with Tools | System Properties and hit Ctrl+Alt+C to copy to clipboard the text lines generated with this pattern for every selected issue.

For example, set action.customcopy.pattern to be <a href="$url$">$key$ $summary$</a> to be able to copy URL links to the selected issues to clipboard with Ctrl+Alt+C.

Bulk change worklog visibility

Select several worklogs in the issue viewer and click Edit Worklogs. Select Comment and/or Visibility Level checkboxes to change the comment or visibility of the selected worklogs and apply your change to all of them with a single edit.

Delete comments and attachments

Now JIRA Client lets you to delete comments and attachments from the JIRA server.

See the list of issues you have recently changed

JIRA Client now shows the most recently uploaded issue, either new or updated, in the status bar. Just click on that message or press Ctrl+/ to see all your recent uploads. Now it's easy to find the issue that you have just submitted.

Per-query table configuration

Issue table settings, including selected columns, sorting, and hierarchy setting, are now remembered independently for each query.

Search for empty fields

Is empty option has been added to the Query Builder, so you can easily find issues that have certain fields empty.

Move sub-tasks

You can now convert regular issues to sub-tasks and vice versa using the Move action. You can also move sub-tasks between parent issues and change their types.

Edit comments

Now it's possible to edit issue comments with JIRA Client, if you have permissions. Conflict detection and resolution for comments is available.

Combine and save text searches

A new type of search condition is Text Search. Text Search conditions work just like Quick Search, but you can use them to make complex, persistent queries.

Suppress background synchronization

Use Right Click | Get Changes in Background submenu to suppress background synchronization for rarely used connections.

Other improvements and fixes

JIRA Client now consistently respects your operating system's font smoothing settings, so all the text you see should look better.

We have added a new column that uses icons as a compact representation for issue status, type, and priority. The table configuration dialog has also become better.

You can use Right Click | Reload JIRA Configuration command on individual connections to save time and network traffic when downloading server-side configuration changes.

Added support for "Resolved" date field

Resolved field, introduced in JIRA 4, is now supported. You can view resolution date in issue details view and as a column, and you can search using "Resolved" filter.

Please note that searching using "Resolved" filter on JIRA 3.x will not give any results, as this field is not supported on those versions.

You can easily create a connection to JIRA with a new wizard (Connection | New JIRA Connection).

Attach files and screenshots when creating issues

You can capture a screenshot, edit and attach it directly from New Issue window. Note that you can now Undo and Redo your changes in the screenshot editor.
Similarly, you can attach a file while creating an issue.

Quick as-you-type navigation

Run Search | New Query or press F3, select Assignee and focus the list on the right using Alt + Click or Ctrl + Click. Start typing any part of the assignee name, and a matching item will be selected. Use arrows to navigate to the next or previous matched name.
You can use this feature in any list to quickly locate the desired item. For example, in the last scenario you could start typing "As" to select Assignee in the "Constraint type" list.

Revamped interface

We have simplified the interface in numerous places and redesigned the main menu to make it more logical.

Avoiding illegal values

New Issue and Edit Issue windows now check for illegal values and warn if you try to upload or save them.

Message panel

If JIRA Client wants to tell you something about an issue, it shows it in the new message panel found below the issue viewer. If something goes wrong, don't panic! JIRA Client will offer appropriate actions to deal with the problem.

Support for JIRA 4

All JIRA Client features now work with JIRA 4, with the exception of downloading filters saved on JIRA server.

Better Time Tracking

Select an issue and use Right Click | Work on Issue or Ctrl+G to set it as your current task and start tracking time. Use Time | Time Tracking menu item or Ctrl+M to view time tracking control window.

Click on the big timer at the top of the Time Tracker window to select which value to display: total time spent, time spent by you or time when last work was done.

Click on Remaining Time or Time Spent to adjust current values.

Use Time | Edit and Publish Timesheet to convert tracked time into work log entries and upload them to JIRA. You can use Summary to simply edit total time spent and remaining time, and JIRA Client will adjust work logs accordingly.

Support for Work Log

If you upgraded from a previous version, reload issues from server (only once) to view work log. Add, edit, delete work log entries in the issue details view. You can also use keyboard shortcut Ctrl+[.

Time Tracking

Select an issue and use Right Click | Work on Issue or Ctrl+G to set it as your current task and start tracking time. Use Time | Time Tracking menu item or Ctrl+M to view time tracking control window. Use Time | Edit and Publish Timesheet to convert tracked time into work log entries and upload them to JIRA.

Note that if you turn on File | Use System Tray menu option (available on Windows and Mac OS X with Java 6), JIRA Client will show auto-pause notifications and you will also be able to quickly open time tracking control with a single click on the system tray icon.

Interface Makeover

Explore the new interface - most buttons are moved to the issue details view. Actions applicable to issue list are moved to the issue list header area. Issue list header also shows applicable bulk edit actions when multiple issues are selected.

Minimize to System Tray

You can turn on File | Use System Tray when running on Windows or Mac OS X (with Java 6) to make JIRA Client hide to system tray when you minimize or close its main window.

Edit by Drag & Drop

Select issues and drag them over a query or a distribution node in the Navigation Tree. If drop is possible, the target node is highlighted and a hint showing resulting changes is shown.

NB: You can bulk edit issues by selecting them and dropping over a query.

NB: After issues are edited with drag & drop, they are not uploaded automatically. Use File | Upload Local Changes to upload all changed issues or right click | Upload to send to server changes to a specific issue.

NB: You can also use Copy and Paste.

Labels Support

JIRA Labels plug-in is now supported. If you already have a connection to JIRA with a labels field, then run File | Synchronize and, after synchronization is finished, restart JIRA Client. You will be able to search for labels, make distribution by label and edit labels (with Edit Issue window or with drag-and-drop).

Watching and Voting

You can add/remove your vote or change watching status for an issue. If an issue is not fully downloaded, use right click | Download to get all details from the server before voting and watching actions are available.

Issue References Export/Import

To export issues, select them and copy to clipboard. You then can paste them into any text editor as a list of issue URLs.

To import references, select a text that contains issue URLs and copy to clipboard. Then select a local tag node in the Navigation Tree, and right click | Paste. Before importing, a connection must be configured with the same base URL as the original connection.

Select an issue and use Tools, Attach Screenshot menu item to capture screenshot. Alternatively, use PrintScreen button and the paste the screenshot from clipboard on the issue.

Export to PDF

Use Export button and select PDF format. Export attributes, comments, attachments.

Highlight/Filter Issue Table

Click Ctrl+Shift+F or use Search, Find... menu item to open highlight/filter panel in a tab with a table of issues.

JIRA Client now performs quick update once every 2-3 minutes: server changes will appear in JIRA Client very quickly.

Sub-Task Support

Run manual synchronization with Ctrl+F5. If your JIRA server allows sub-tasks, you can now create sub-task (use Right Click on a parent task), and arrange sub-tasks into hierarchy.

Issue-Level Security

Run manual synchronization with Ctrl+F5. If your JIRA project has issue-level security configured, you will be able to view, change and search by this field.

Tags (formerly known as Collections)

It's now possible to create a query "issue is tagged as ABC", and also create a distribution by Tags. Check out corresponding options in Create Query and Create Distribution dialogs. Tags now are accompanied by icons (you can add your own). To change tags for selected issues, use Ctrl+T or toolbar button.

Backlog Reorder

Allows to rearrange issues in arbitrary order and store this order in JIRA by using a designated custom field. Run any query and then select Tools-Reorder by Field.
