The concept of resources in Structure.Gantt is fairly simple. You can use a Jira field of Text, Single value or User type or a Structure attribute as a resource.

For example, you can set Assignee as a resource and Jira users will be used as resources. Or you can create a simple text custom field called Teams and use that as a resource. You can also combine them using a simple formula as a resource. 

In the Resources section of the Gantt configuration you can configure the way resources are assigned to the tasks and the default settings for resources.

Resource Assignment

You can assign a resource to an issue using JIRA field (for example, Assignee or a custom field of type "Text" or "User"). The configuration allows you to select which field is used.

It's also possible to have a more advanced configuration where Structure attributes are used – for example, a value calculated through Formulas.

By default, "None" value is selected, which means that no resources will be assigned to tasks.

Resource Defaults

When calculating Gantt chart and resource allocation chart, Structure.Gantt needs to figure out the following parameters for each resource:

• Units. Defines how much work can be done by the resource in 1 hour. By default, the value is 1 – which corresponds to 1 person.
• Time Zone. Defines the default time zone of the resources.
• Calendar. Defines working and non-working hours.
• Max. Units. Defines the default maximum number of resource units that can be allocated for a task. It can be set for each individual task in the Task Details panel.

These options are specified in Gantt configuration as defaults for each resource. You can override them for each individual resource later in the Gantt + Resources layout.
