TELL ABOUT NAVIGATION AREA AND WAYS TO SEARCH

Deskzilla allows you to search for bugs and organize them in several convenient ways.

elements of the na allows to search for bugs, but you can also use quick search and ....

The navigation area allows users to arrange bugs using the following tools:

Queries

Queries allow you to search for bugs which meet complex criteria. creating named filters and arranging them in hierarhy create, save and then run different filters, which filter bugs by specified criteria. 7See Queries section for details.

Distributions

Distributions are used to breakdown by some field and are represented as sets of sub-queries based on the selected field. For example, a distribution by status will show how many bugs exist for each status blah blah blah generate a folder of sub-queries corresponding to different status values where each sub-query filters bugs by one status value (i.e sub-query showing new bugs, sub-query showing open bugs, etc). See Distributions section for details. - SIMPLIFY!!!!!

Tabular distributions

Tabular distributions allow users to create bugs breakdowns by two fields and also set additional filters on the distribution results. See Tabular Distributions section for details. - SIMPLIFY!!!!!

Folders

simply folders!!!!!!!!! for organizing queries

Tags

The tags feature allows users to create a number of personal tags which are only used LOCALLY (CHANGE) and
bugs can be tagged and then blah blah blah
assign them to the bugs, thus grouping them in a specific way.

OUTBOX

ADD SHORT DESCRIPTION

MOVE TO A SEPARATE PAGE

Every query contains a filter which can be applied to bugs and produce search results. SIMPLIFY!!!!!

All queries and distributions work as logic expressions and when arranged hierarchically they filter the results of the higher level expression. It is possible to copy and rearrange them, thus applying them to any node.

For example, the distribution by Status created for the top-level node will display status distribution for all bugs. However, it can be moved or copied to any of the child nodes and show this distribution for bugs in this child node. For example, show distribution by status for all bugs added today.

To move a query or a distribution to another place in the hierarchy, select it in the hierarchy by clicking on it and then drag it to the required location. As the element is dragged over the navigation area the possible new locations are highlighted with red. Once the required location is highlighted drop the element.

To copy a query or a distribution, right-click on it and select Copy. Then right-click the element, that should be the "parent" of your copy and select Paste from the context menu.

besides searching with q and d deskzilla provides more ways to search

Deskzilla has two search options: - wrong, cause query is search too

  • Quick search used for searching within a currently selected query for the bugs which contain some specific words or phrases in their description
  • search by a bug number (in selected connection) or URL (finds the corresponding connection - if there is none suggest to create new with this url)
  • Table search used for searching words or phrases within a selected bugs table.

For details see the Quick Search and Table Search sections.
