To use the new JIRA Client build with its updated Cloud authentication mechanism, please do the following:

1. Launch JIRA Client. Type your Jira Cloud address in the URL field and select the Jira Cloud option.
2. Once the option is selected, the Password field will be renamed with the API Token link. Clicking on it will redirect you to your Atlassian profile in the 'API tokens' section. If you're not logged in already, log in using your credentials there. Then you can create a new token clicking Create API token, label it for convenience and Copy it to clipboard.
3. Return to JIRA Client and type in your username. In case you have more than one Atlassian profiles, the username should be of account with the created token.
4. Paste the copied token and click Next.
5. When the connection is successful, proceed with further configuration.

When JIRA Client is opened next time, you should be already authenticated to this Jira connection. And in case you need to create a new Jira connection, a new token would need to be created for it.

Since a token itself can only be copied once when it's created, if you need to recreate a connection, you would need to create a new token. The old token will still exist in your profile but you won't be able to use it, so we would recommend to Revoke it.

You can learn more about API tokens in Atlassian documentation here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloud/api-tokens-938839638.html
